FAQ

What is the mission of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church?
Here is our mission statement: Knowing the love of God and the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we, the people of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Floral Park, profess our faith as a community of believers by: administering the Sacraments and proclaiming the Gospel; actively learning and teaching God’s Word; being faithful witnesses of Christ in service to all God’s people; being faithful stewards of the gifts God has given us; providing opportunities for spiritual growth.

What are your church services like?
We are a liturgical church, standing in the 2000 year tradition of Christian prayer and music. We sing hymns old and new, and celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday. The services are generally an hour or less, and you find them meaningful, thoughtful, but also inviting.

Is there a waiting period for enrolling children for Sunday School?
No.

Any suggestion on selecting a church?
Yes. Select ours! When you’re looking for a church, find a place that is focused on discovering God’s continuing acts among the faithful, and a group of people who look forward to hearing God’s promises of life, salvation, and forgiveness of sins in the Word and in Sacraments. All these things are present here. Come and experience them!

Do I need to be a confirmed Lutheran to receive communion?
All baptized persons are welcome at the Lord’s table.

What do Lutherans believe?
Lutherans believe that we live by the grace of God—and that God’s love and grace save us from sin and give us life eternal. We believe God loves all Creation and all peoples, and has shown that love to us in Jesus Christ. Baptized into Christ’s own death and resurrection, we try to live like he did, we hope for a resurrection like his, and we await his coming again at the end of days.
